Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about ERPNext implementation.

How long does a typical ERPNext implementation take?
Most mid-market implementations take 6 to 12 weeks depending on the number of modules, data migration complexity, and customization scope. A foundation setup with Accounts, Stock, Buying, and Selling typically lands closer to 6-8 weeks. Multi-company rollouts with custom Frappe apps and third-party integrations run 10 to 14+ weeks. We scope every project during discovery so you have a realistic plan before any build starts.
Should we self-host or use Frappe Cloud?
Frappe Cloud is the managed hosting service run by the ERPNext creators — it handles updates, backups, and infrastructure. Self-hosting gives you full control over the stack, better performance for custom configurations, and lower long-term cost at scale. We support both deployment paths. For most growing businesses, we recommend starting on Frappe Cloud for simplicity, then evaluating a self-hosted migration once customization depth increases.
Do you handle data migration from our legacy system?
Yes. We extract data from your current system (QuickBooks, Excel, SAP, custom databases), clean and transform it to match ERPNext's structure, and load it into your new environment. We validate data accuracy before go-live and provide reconciliation reports. Historical transactions, customer records, vendor data, and inventory all migrate cleanly.
How much customization can we do on ERPNext?
ERPNext is highly customizable. Using Frappe's DocType framework, you can create entirely new data models without touching the core codebase. Client scripts and server scripts handle UI behavior and server-side logic. For deeper changes, we build custom Frappe apps that sit alongside the core installation. This keeps your customizations isolated and easier to maintain across version upgrades.
What support do you provide after go-live?
We provide hypercare support for the first 2-4 weeks after go-live — immediate response to issues, user assistance, and configuration tweaks. After that, most clients move to a monthly support retainer for ongoing admin, enhancements, version upgrades, and optimization. We don't disappear after launch — we're your long-term ERPNext partner.
